Dear Mr. Kelsey

I have collected autographs for over 20 years. When I was in college I started writing to celebrities and asking them what they would tell a class of elementary school students. Over the years I have gotten over 200 letter and signed pictures to my students. I think that by these very busy people taking the time to share their thoughts with students, it shows the power of education. I hope you enjoy my collection

David Eisenhower: Son of President Eisenhower

Have you ever heard of Camp David the presidential retreat? It is named after David Eisenhower, the son of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Mr. Eisenhower sent a great letter to the students It says, “Dear Mr. Kelsey – I would encourage members of the class to travel. They won’t do so during the school year but they can use the winter months to plan for summer. Europe is great but I recommend they ‘see America first’. David Eisenhower.” I really like this letter because I completely agree. I have been to Canada and Mexico but I think there are so many amazing things to see right here in the United States that I have no real urge to travel abroad. Even though the US has only been around for a couple hundred years, we have an amazingly rich history. I love learning about the local history of any place that I travel. You will be amazed what hidden gems you will find in the most unexpected places when you just look.
